Emma’s last post

This is my last blog post for Rock Face Minerals, before I hand over the reins to Shauna of Natures Inspiration tomorrow. I’ve just noticed that my last post was way back in August, which just goes to show how busy I’ve been in recent months, and why I don’t have time to run RFM anymore.
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported me & RFM over the last 3 years – I’ve had so much fun & made so many good friends along the way. & please continue to support RFM – I know you’ll be in good hands with Shauna!

Thanks & Best Wishes
Emx

Green Parent Natural Beauty Award for Rock Face Minerals

Green Parent Natural Beauty Awards 2011 Just realised that I hadn’t got round to mentioning that Rock Face Minerals has won another award!

Bangor Belle was Highly Commended in the Best Blusher/Bronzer category of The Green Parent Natural Beauty Awards 2011. I’m thrilled to bits not least because Bangor Belle has been a best seller since it was introduced to the Rock Face Minerals range last summer, and has lots of fair-skinned fans as you can see from the online reviews! Bangor Belle costs just £12, and if you are darker-skinned, or just a little more adventurous, why not try the darker bronzer shade, Tenerife Tango.

Tyrella Beach and Whitepark Bay

Since a lot of the Rock Face Minerals eyshadow names have a Northern Ireland connection, I thought I’d share with you a couple of pics from our camping adventures this summer; needless to say rain featured prominenTyrella Beach, Mourne Mountainstly!

Firstly Tyrella Beach in July – there were 6 people on the beach that day & they were us! Tyrella Beach is a beautiful spot in Co.Down, near the mouth of Strangford Lough. That’s the Mourne Mountains you can see in the background.

Second pic is from our recent trip to the beautiful North Coast Whitepark Bay, North Coastand is of Whitepark Bay – we went down to the beach in glorious sunshine & 15 minutes later we had a torrential downpour! No choice but to put our waterproofs on, stick the kids under an umbrella & wait it out for sunshine again, which did re-appear, but only after we were well & truly soaked!

Facebook Fan Giveaway!

I’ve been meaning to do this for ages & I can’t believe that the last Rock Face Minerals competition was in August. Slack of me. Anyway, I’d love to get some more likes for the Rock Face Minerals Facebook page, so I’m doing a giveway – once we reach the giddy heights of 500 likes, 1 lucky winner will get to choose up to £25 worth of Rock Face Minerals products as their prize! So they might treat themselves to a lovely Deluxe Kabuki (nice!) or maybe foundation and a Pink Kabuki. So, if you haven’t clicked on the Like button on our Facebook page yet, then just click on the nifty icon above. Don’t forget to tell your FB friends to click too – the sooner we get to 500 likes, the sooner we can do another giveaway!

How not to do a How To video

My sister took this video of me at the Fashion Souk before Xmas – we demo’ed the products to so many people before we remembered that we should really take a video for the Rock Face Minerals website!

It’s not the best quality (ahem!) & you’ll get a crick in you neck trying to watch it the right way up, but hopefully you’ll enjoy it!

What’s in a name? part 1

For many of the Rock Face Minerals products, there’s a story behind the name. It’ll take a while to write it all out, but let’s make a start.

First up is Chocolate Toffee, our best-seller & one of the first eyeshadow shades I picked for the range. This was named after Rileys Chocolate Toffee Rolls which were my Dad’s favourite sweet of all time, as it was the same shade as the sheen on the chocolate round the toffee. Dad thought that we didn’t know about the quarter of RCTR’s that he’d get when he picked up the Belfast Telegraph every evening, but the trail of burgundy sweet wrappers hidden in the car door, or down the back of his armchair, gave him away.

note: if you too were a fan of RCTR’s then there’s great news – they are back! Check out Ella Riley’s Toffees & Sweets & you can find out why they stopped producing them & buy them online from one of the descendants of the original producers.

Poochy Kitten is named after my sister’s cat, Poochy O’Leary (all my sister’s pets have had grand names).  With hindsight, having 2 blush shades with the initials PK is a bit confusing (for me at least) but Pixie Kisses is taken from the inscription by an old school friend on the back of my class photo, on the day that we left school.

Finally for now is Mourne Heather, named after the famous, and beautiful Mountains of Mourne – one of my favourite places!

Here comes the sun!

it’s a bit windy out there, but here in sunny Belfast, it finally feels like spring is on the way.

Rock Face Minerals eyeshadow

If you are thinking of giving your make-up bag an overhaul, & swapping the browns and greys of winter for something more cheery, check out some of the more vibrant Rock Face Minerals eyeshadow shades, such as  shimmering lemon yellow Lemon Parade, sparkly lilac Strangford Lough and sparkling azure blue Whitepark Bay.

For cheeks, great colours for spring are Candyfloss blush a matte candy pink, and Rosy Posy, a matte rose shade which is similar to Toffee Apple.
Our 2 bronzer shades Bangor Belle and Tenerife Tango were bestsellers last summer, & are great for giving your skin a health glow without looking like you have been tango-ed.
Check out the range at www.rockfaceminerals.co.uk, & see if anything takes your fancy, & don’t forget to like us on Facebook & follow us on Twitter (@rockfacemineral) for exclusive offers and discount codes.

Snog Marry Avoid?

If you are a fan of the strangely addictive BBC3 TV show that is Snog Marry Avoid, you’ll be pleased to know that the participants in the current series are lucky enough to get Rock Face Minerals products to keep them on the straight and narrow & maintain their “natural look” after the show.

Chocolate Toffee

Mourne Heather

The girls receive 2 gorgeous Rock Face Minerals eyeshadow shades – Chocolate Toffee which is our best selling eyeshadow shade, a super useful mid purple-brown shade, and also Mourne Heather our deep blue-purple shade which helps to dramatise eyes, and is popular with young and old customers alike (including my Mum!). The series is currently on BBC3 on Tuesday nights at 8pm – check it out!

Happy New Year! (ish)

Well, I’ve started 2011 in pretty much the same vein as 2010 was – i.e. running simply to stand still! No idea where January has disappeared to, but it’s lovely to see all the little clues that Spring is on its way.

I made a concerted effort to relax a bit over the Xmas break & so far it’s paid off – for the first time in many years I’m managed to avoid the coughs & colds that are inevitably doing the rounds in January.

Rock Face Minerals has been getting some great press coverage in the last few weeks – Copper Cabana featured in a “get the look” spread in Saga magazine, and we also got a mention in Shout magazine this week. So from teenagers to the silver surfers, Rock Face Minerals really is suitable for all ages & all skin types!

I’ve switched my blog from Blogger to WordPress, in the hope that it’ll help me blog more often in 2011! Bear with me as I figure out what everything does, & I hope you like the new layout.

Xmas Fashion Souk at the Waterfront

A wee quick post about my adventures at the Fashion Souk last week – thanks to the snow, my restock order only just arrived in time, & so I was up until silly o’clock the night before making samples – as you can see from the video my eyes were falling out of my head!

My sister and I had a fab day at the Souk, not least because we were 3 stalls down from the lovely John of the Sugar Room, & we invested heavily in some of his divine cupcakes!
I also finally got the chance to meet the lovely Amanda of BoopyDoodle – she’s a FaceBook friend of mine who makes fun and quirky jewellery – I have one of her Love Heart bracelets & it always commented on when I wear it!
Thanks to everyone who came along to the Rock Face Minerals stall & also Aly, her team of helpers & the other stall holders for making it a great day.
